Today we drove up highway 19 (Queen K) to go to the beach.
Along the road between Kona and Kohala, there is a bunch of rock graffiti, which you can see in the photos below. Painting on the rocks of Hawai'i is forbidden, so many teens and locals write their tags or love messages (like a heart carved in a tree) with white coral rocks arranged on the black/brown lava rock that expands both sides of the roads:
We stopped at the Hilton Wiakoloa Village again to walk around the outdoor shops and so that I could show Jeff the dolphins. Unfortunately, there was no show going on when we where there.

We then went to the Kauna 'oa Beach at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, which is slightly farther south of the point of the section of beach that I was at yesterday with Frances. This beach was a long crescent of sand with less than 50 people in the whole area, and we played in the waves for a while, then layed on the beach and had some sushi that we packed in the cooler for dinner.
All in all, it was a good day.
Happy Birthday, Jeff!!
